AT&T Introduces 5 New Android Smartphones (VIDEO)

Today marks the official unveiling of AT&T's five brand new Android-powered smartphone models.

This past January, the cellphone carrier company announced its plans to bring 12 Android devices to the market for 2011. Today, AT&T confirmed that its goal has been met and will be exceeded during the fourth quarter of the year in sales.

The first smartphone that has been introduced thus far is Motorola's "ATRIX 2." Its many features include a 4.3-inch qHD screen, with more than 500,000 pixels for a sharper, clearer display. The smartphone also has an 8 MP camera and LED flash, front-facing camera, 1080p HD video capture and 30 frames per second video playback.

It is powered by Android 2.3 (Gingerbread) and holds up to 8 GB ROM, 1 GB RAM and a 2 GB microSD&trade card (expandable to 32GB) worth of internal memory. A 1 GHz dual-core processor is also present in the device.

The "ATRIX 2" has 4G capabilities as well.

Next up is Samsung's "Captivate Glide." It’s a 4G-enabled smartphone that also has a 1GHz Nvidia Tegra 2 AP20H dual core processor. Its internal memory comes out to 1GB RAM, 1GB ROM and 8GB internal microSD&trade to 32GB. The device has a 4-inch, 800 WVGA Super AMOLED screen. Also included is a dual camera with an 8MP autofocus with LED + 1.3MP front and full HD 1080p video camera with HDMI playback.

The "Captivate Glide" also features the "Exchange ActiveSync" program, with support for IT policies, task synchronization and global address lookup.

The three other smartphone models that AT&T has now introduced include the Samsung "DoubleTime," Pantech "Pocket" and AT&T "Avail."

The Samsung "DoubleTime" comes with a full-flip keyboard and is powered by Android 2.2. It also sports a 3.2 MP digital camera with a camcorder.

The Pantech "Pocket" has a 4.0-inch SVGA touch screen display, wide profile virtual keyboard, 4G support, 5MP camera, and access to the Android Market.

The AT&T "Avail" comes with a 3.5-inch touch screen, 5-megapixel camera and runs on Android 2.3 OS. This device is Wi-Fi capable and users have up to seven customizable home screens to use.
