'Attack On Titan' Game News: Online Co-Op Mode Coming After Launch
As the release of the "Attack on Titan" video game draws near, fans of the anime series are getting excited to try their hand at battling Titans, the giant human-like monsters who are the antagonists in the game. The game will be released as a single-player game, with players choosing which character they will play as and defeat the Titans. While talking about the content and updates that the game will be receiving after its launch, publisher Koei Tecmo recently announced that an online co-op mode is in store for the game in March.
According to a report in Tech Times, the announcement was made during a livestream by Koei Tecmo discussing post-release content. It describes the online co-op mode as a multi-player mode that allows up to four players to come together. The co-op mode will also reportedly support cross-platform play across the PlayStation 3, the PlayStation 4 and the PlayStation Vita versions of the game.
The co-op mode will be part of a major update coming to the game on March 24, according to another report in Siliconera. It will also bring with it ten additional content, which includes decorations for the base.
Aside from the co-op mode, other content updates that is in store for those who purchase the game include additional costumes such as those for the New Year (February 18, same day as release date), additional "Festival" costumes and weapons and three new episodes (February 25), additional "Halloween" costumes and weapons and another three new episodes (March 3) and additional "Christmas" costumes and weapons and another three new episodes (March 10). Come March 17, 16 new costumes will be added and 4 new weapons and 9 additional new episodes will be arriving for the game.
The game is set during the Battle of Trost, which is a major event in the anime and manga series.
The game's Japanese release is on February 18, but the Tech Times report noted that a North American release may be slated within the year.
