However, with the overwhelming fan demand for the franchise, Season 2 is on its way, and despite being only two story arcs ahead of the manga series, audiences will finally get to find out how Captain Erwin Smith eventually gets to overthrow the reigning king.

Not surprisingly, the current king is an imposter, with the Reiss family actually possessing royal blood and the ability to turn into titans themselves.

Season 2 will also uncover which humans have the titan shifting ability, including members of the squad, Reiner Braun and Bertolt Hoover.

It will also be revealed that Lenz, who changed her identity when she ran away from home to train with the army after a dispute with her relatives, is really Historia Reiss. Ymir makes her promise to use her real name, and return to her royal birthright.

Ymir, who is in love with Lenz, will be outed as the same titan who caught and ate Reiner and Berthodt's family when they were children, recognized only years later, when she appears in her titan form at Castle Utgard.

Season 2 will also disclose the real source of Eren's power, as well as the identities of Colossal Titan and Armoured Titan, who are apparently also shifters.

Audiences will also finally find out who built the massive wall to protect humans from the titans.
