'Attack on Titan' Season 2 Premieres April 22 on Toonami; 'Tokyo Ghoul' Takes Weeklong Hiatus

Toonami has made a few changes in its late-night anime programs. Recently, the network axed "One Piece" from its lineup of anime series to make room for another popular anime series, "Tokyo Ghoul."

The announcement drew mixed reactions from fans. While some "One Piece" fans were disappointed, some felt that the overall theme and aesthetic of "Tokyo Ghoul" was more fitting for the mature block. This week, Toonami has once again included another dark anime series in its lineup.

It can be recalled that last week, the network announced that it would bring the sophomore season of "Attack on Titan" to its late-night anime time slot and that the new series would premiere on April 29. Shortly after the announcement, however, Toonami's plans have once again changed.

On Facebook, the network confirmed that it would put in place some changes to make room for "Attack on Titan" season 2. Instead of April 29, the new premiere date of "Attack on Titan" season 2 would be April 22 at 12:30 a.m. EDT. This change will force the block to do some rearranging, putting "Tokyo Ghoul" on hiatus during the week of April 15.

"Tokyo Ghoul" fans don't need to worry though, as the series will immediately make a comeback after its weeklong hiatus. On the week of "Tokyo Ghoul's" hiatus, "JoJo's Bizarre Adventure" will take the 12:30 a.m. to 1:30 a.m. EDT time slot.

"Attack on Titan Season 2 is coming... One week earlier than previously announced!!! So we're pressing pause (for just one week!) on Tokyo Ghoul the week before, and doubling up JoJo's on April 15th. Confused? Excited? Both?!" wrote Toonami on its Facebook post.

Known for its intense action and dark storylines, "Attack on Titan" is a popular anime that follows a young boy named Eren Yeager, who lives in an alternate world run by creatures called Titans.
