'Avatar 2' News: Fox Announced More Installments

Fox recently announced some exciting details about its hit franchise "Avatar."

Even though it has been year since the release of the successful movie, "Avatar," fans are already looking forward to seeing the world of Pandora once again. With that, Fox finally made an announcement that revealed four more installments for the franchise. During the CinemaCon in Las Vegas, Cameron explained that the next coming years will usher in "Avatar 2," "Avatar 3," "Avatar 4," and "Avatar 5."

While there has yet to be any news on the casting, it can be expected that Sam Worthington and Zoe Saldana will reprise their roles in the upcoming films. Fans have begun speculation on what the story will be about. There are rumors that the plot will show both characters as head of the tribe. They will be faced with challenges since humans are expected to be at war with them. However, these details have yet to be confirmed.

Aside from the announcement, Cameron explained that the upcoming installments will soon explore the oceans of Pandora. According to Screen Rant, he stated, "It's all the scuba diving I did before I even started the deep ocean stuff that has more of a direct connection to Avatar 2 & 3, which by the way won't take place completely in or under the water. That's just part of the environment of Pandora that we're going to see."

Reports also stated that his vision of showing the oceans of Pandora is the reason why the sequels have been delayed. It said that there were no sufficient technology yet that will allow Cameron to execute his plans for the film.

With that, "Avatar 2" is expected to premiere sometime in 2018. "Avatar 3" and "Avatar 4" will follow after two years of the prior film, making it 2020 and 2022. As for "Avatar 5," it is expected to hit theaters by 2023.
