'Avatar 2' Spoilers: Director James Cameron Shared Details About Film
More news about the upcoming sequel of "Avatar" reveal when the series will be hitting the big screen.
After the successful first installment titled "Avatar," director James Cameron is expected to take on more installments of the franchise. With that, he explained some details about what fans can look forward to regarding the upcoming films.
During an interview with Montreal Gazette, Cameron stated that there is an upcoming trio to the franchise. He stated, "At least, that's what we've announced. But I don't consider that to be as important as the fact that when we get all three films done, we drop them a year apart. I call it a meta-narrative that runs across the three movies. Each film stands alone, but it also tells one much larger story."
He also added that the preparation of the films was a two-year task, which involved finalizing creatures and landscapes for the new parts of the Pandora world. He then stated, "The writing is ongoing, but almost finished. Technical development is done. Stages are done. Infrastructure. So we're really poised to start after the first of the year."
With the production of the film expected to begin, reports show that Cameron is working with Josh Friedman, Rick Jaffa, Amanda Silver, and Shane Salerno, who will be joining him in the upcoming installments of the franchise.
The film is expected to take on themes related to new worlds, beings, and culture, which will pose some interesting perspective on aliens. However, other theories revealed that Jake Sully, played by Sam Worthington, and Neytiri, played by Zoe Saldana, will be facing issues regarding their relationship.
"Avatar 2" is expected to release on Dec. 2017. The rest of the installments of the franchise are slated to release on 2018 and 2019, respectively.
