'Avengers Infinity War' Spoilers: Benedict Cumberbatch Clarifies He Will Not Be Replaced by a Stand-in
Fans do not have to worry about Benedict Cumberbatch being replaced by a stand-in in "Avengers: Infinity War" as the rumors suggested.
The "Sherlock" actor assured fans of his inclusion as Doctor Strange in the film and clarified during an interview with Entertainment Tonight that the report is "a bit of an exaggeration."
"There's a great deal that can be done in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, and any comic universe," Cumberbatch explained, suggesting that his "Avengers: Infinity War" appearance is one of them.
"Whether it's hiding a pregnancy, to having someone there who's on another side of the world, but there's only so much they can do without you. So, I'll be there. Don't worry," he went on to say.
The original report suggested that Cumberbatch is unable to film his scenes for "Avengers: Infinity War" because he was busy filming with "The Current War."
Production on that movie is complete and with the upcoming ensemble film still well underway, Cumberbatch has plenty of time to film his Doctor Strange scenes.
In other news, there is a new rumor going around that the budget for "Avengers: Infinity War" and its untitled follow-up will reportedly be at a whopping $1 billion.
This is five times the usual budget for superhero films, as per Independent. One-fifth of it is reportedly the paycheck for Iron Man actor Robert Downey Jr.
The massive number was mentioned by Pinewood Atlanta Studios co-owner Dan Cathy during the African American Film Critics Association meeting.
While he did not specifically mention which movie, it is believed that "Avengers: Infinity War" and the film that will follow it are what he was referring to.
"Avengers: Infinity War" is currently being filmed in Atlanta. The cast and crew of the film will be working there in the next year, which had many believing this budget was attached to the star-studded films.
"Avengers: Infinity War" will kick off the ultimate battle of the heroes against the fearsome Thanos (Josh Brolin). The Avengers are to be joined by Star-Lord (Chris Pratt) and the Guardians, Spider-Man (Tom Holland) and many others.
"Avengers: Infinity War" will be in cinemas May 4, 2018.
