'Awkward' Season 5 Episode 8 Spoilers and Episode 7 Plot Recap: It's Time for Prom
In the upcoming episode of "Awkward" entitled "An Indecent Promposal," the official synopsis reads, "Jenna receives surprising news during prom season." In the promo for the episode, it seems that Jenna will be asking someone to prom, while Jenna and her friends create a do not ask list for prom.
In a preview for the episode, Matty seems to be deciding where to go for college and it seems that he has repaired his friendship with Jake since they have been hanging out and chilling. Matty's choice of college does not hinge on Jenna but it does seem that they are rekindling their romance.
In the preceding episode, it began with Jenna's mom as she told her daughter how she felt about Matty. She ended up telling her daughter that she had told Matty to stay away during spring break, which explained why Matty avoided her. Jenna became annoyed with her mother for interfering with her relationship with Matty.
Meanwhile, Darlene, Sadie's mother decided to introduce her boyfriend Ted to her daughter over lunch. Unfortunately, she had lied to both of them. Ted had been around in September and Darlene had told him that he could not meet Sadie because she was applying to colleges. The truth was Darlene was not on speaking terms yet with Sadie.
Val had returned from her vacation to the Epcot Center, but she had ruined the moment when Lacey was going to find out the gender of her baby. Lacey had no idea what gender her new baby was, but Jenna and Kevin knew and they hid that knowledge well. Jenna ended up accidentally spilling the beans when she blurted out that it was a girl as Lacey was about to cut the cake.
Jenna finally got some alone time with Matty, and when she gathered enough courage to tell him how she really felt, Matty told her that he has been accepted in Berkeley. Matty was considering going to a school that was closer to her instead. Jenna knew that Berkeley was his dream school and she encouraged him to go there.
"Awkward" airs every Monday.
