Bangkok Flood Latest: Waters Continue to Rise - Flood Emergency HQ to be Evacuated?
The floodwater in Thailand is forcing more residents to evacuate as it reaches the outskirts of Bangkok, reports on Monday have indicated.
The flood emergency headquarters, which has already been relocated once, is also under threat from the floods and may have to be moved another time.
Industries have been crippled due to the floods and two more industrial estates in eastern Bangkok are now surrounded by floodwater.
Thailand’s government confirmed that 506 people have died from the floods to date, and over a third of Bangkok’s districts are under evacuation orders.
Twenty-five of the country’s 77 provinces are affected by the record-breaking floods.
According to The Associated Press, floodwaters from Thailand’s central heartland pushed further into Bangkok today.
Bangkok Mass Transportation suspended some of its bus services in flood-stricken areas. The overhead Skytrain appears to be running normally along with the underground MRT system.
