'Bates Motel' Season 4 Spoilers: Norma and Norman Struggle for Power

The upcoming episodes of "Bates Motel" Season 4 will show the mother and son struggle as Norman's mental condition gets worse.

The past season of the hit series have showed Norma and Norman on good terms, leaving less room for conflict between them. However, it has now built up to a shift in dynamics between the two, leaving Norma powerless compared to her son. With that, Norma finally decided to seek help for Norman.

It was shown that the upcoming episode will show Norman at a session with his therapist. During their talk, the topic of Norman's father was opened up. However, the trailer released showed that Norma will suddenly appear and advise Norman not to speak about the matter.

Meanwhile, Norman's sessions will not be the only problem that Norma will have to deal with. He will also start to complicate Norma and Sheriff Romero's relationship, by attempting to drive them apart. The actor who plays Norman, Freddie Highmore, spoke out about his motivations to do so. He explained that it is due to the need for their close relationship.

According to Enstarz, he said, "No matter what [Norman and Norma] will always have to be together. That pits Norman against Sheriff Romero this season and their rivalry develops. I guess from Norman's perspective there's this slightly analytical look that we haven't done before, a deeper look at his psyche and what's really going on under all of that and if he can be saved."

With that, there is much speculation as to what Norman will do to keep his mother close to him. Nestor Carbonell, who plays the role of Sheriff Romero, hinted that Norman will continue performing questionable deeds as the season goes by. He said, "He's Norman Bates so there are people he's going to kill this season but there's always this side of him of always trying to do the right thing and doing what he thinks is best."

"Bates Motel" Season 4 airs on A&E every Monday night.
