'Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice' News: Jesse Eisenberg Says Lex Luthor Wants to Save Humanity, Would Love to Play the Character Once More
Actor Jesse Eisenberg has said that he would love to play the role of Lex Luthor once more if given the chance. Eisenberg who plays the character who carries a great amount of hatred towards Superman in the upcoming "Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice" movie, believes that Lex Luthor is a great person who goes out every day, attempting to save the world.
When asked by a member of the audience from AOL Build what similarity he has to the character he plays in the movie, Eisenberg said that he and Lex Luthor are both ambitious. The difference, though, is that he feels guilty over his being ambitious while his character does not. In a way, he also justified Lex Luthor's hatred towards Superman by saying that the character thinks destroying Superman is his contribution to save humanity.
"What I think, makes the story relevant is this questioning of the value of this kind of power in the real world… so my character, who has what we would think of as modern financial success, is threatened by this guy who has power in a supernatural way. Superman is an existential threat to my character," revealed Eisenberg in an interview with Comic Book Movie.
In his interview with AOL, Eisenberg revealed that he never liked Superman on a personal level, stressing that he was never a fan of comic books growing up. While his father and nephew were fans of the Man of Steel, he said, it seemed that the fascination for the alien superhero skipped his generation.
Meanwhile, pre-selling tickets for the "Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice" movie are already suggesting that the movie will be a certified box-office success. The conservative estimate is that it will make, at least, $110 million during its opening weekend in USA and Canada alone, with a high possibility of it hitting the $180 million mark during its first three days of showing.
"Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice" hits theaters March 25.
