'Batman v Superman' release date, cast news: Snyder slams rumors about son playing Robin, opens ad-making contest for young filmmakers
Recent reports suggest that director Zack Snyder's son Eli is playing Robin, the Boy Wonder, in his upcoming movie "Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice."
Snyder's son is 19 years old and was known for his performance in the 2006 movie "300," as well as his appearances in "Watchmen" and "Sucker Punch."
Although many fans were excited when the rumor first surfaced, Snyder said in an interview with Yahoo! that the rumors are all but "wild guesses." "It's fun for everyone to speculate and take shots and think of things and try to sell it," he said, adding that photos of his son playing Robin are only fan made, though he finds it fun hearing the rumors and seeing his son dressed as Robin in some images.
Meanwhile, other supposed rumors have been clarified as it was confirmed earlier that Michael Shannon's General Zod won't be a flipper-handed monster but will actually appear in the film as some sort of a Kryptonian ghost.
Tao Okamoto's role in the movie has also been revealed. Collider said Okamoto will be playing the role of Mercy Graves, Lex Luthor's personal chauffeur. The outlet points out that her street-fighting abilities make her more qualified to be Luthor's personal bodyguard.
Snyder also revealed that his new "Crash the Super Bowl" filmmaking contest offers the winner a real-time opportunity to work with him on a DC set. Participants in the contest will be given a chance to sport each a 30-second ad for Doritos, which will be featured in the Super Bowl. The winner will be chosen by none other than the director himself and several Doritos fans.
Aside from the winner getting his shot at a DC production set, the three finalists will get the one-time chance of watching the Super Bowl game from a private room that only big shots are allowed to enter for accommodation. The three finalists will be chosen from a sea of 50 semi-finalists.
Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice is set for a March 2016 release.
