'Batman vs Superman' - New images reveal battle-ready costumes and a mean and hungry looking Batmobile.
The Batmobile and the costumes revealed at ComicCon 2015 show that the creators of "Batman vs Superman: Dawn of Justice" are leaving no stone unturned to get everything right, from the locations to the vehicles, office locations, and the costumes of the trio - Batman, Superman and Wonder Woman - everything has been extensively researched and detailed.
The Batmobile that was showcased looked mean and hungry. The detailed interiors of the Bat's car were shown. It looks chunky but formidable and almost has battle-tank looks.
Coming to the costumes, Michael Wilkinson, the costume designer on Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice, has obviously done a lot of homework to come up with such research-based costumes. In a People's Choice interview, he says, "I studied how they have been portrayed over the last 75 years on film, on TV, in comic books, graphic novels and video games. I studied what they mean to people, what they stand for, why they are important. I started an exhaustive search for new materials and technologies"
Wilkinson said that not many changes have been made to the suit that the Man of Steel wears, but some tweaking was done to bring out some details required for the "earthy context" of the film. As for Batman's costume, it was completely different from the costumes Batman previously wore as they wanted the viewers to see that the Bat's power originates from his fighting skills and strength. He particularly liked the brass knuckles on the gloves of the new Batsuit.
Most unusual is Wonder Woman's costume. For this director Zack Snyder had given particular instructions to Wilkinson. He tells People's Choice, "Zack wanted our character to be a fierce and intimidating warrior — gritty, battle-scarred and immortal. Zack had a great idea to have some kryptonian script subliminally included in the details of the suit, so we made that happen. There is ancient Greek script on Wonder Woman's weapons too."
Does this suggest some connection? Also Wonder Woman appears mostly in her human alter ego and becomes Wonder Woman only towards the end. Wonder Woman will battle it out in a blue leather skirt topped with a red bustier, a golden tiara and silver bracers up to her elbows. Besides this she seems to be carrying a lot of accessories. Aside from her most famous weapon, the lasso, she will also be carrying a shield, a sword and a spear.
Many villains are going to be introduced in this film and Aquaman is played by Jason Momoa of the "Game of Thrones" fame. Reportedly he liked his suit so much that he did not want to come out of it.
