'Battlefield 1' Free to Play on Xbox One This Weekend
Gamers will get to play EA DICE and Electronic Arts' first-person shooter "Battlefield 1" for free this weekend on the Xbox One.
According to Video Gamer, the title will be free to play from Sept. 22 to 24 as part of the Xbox Live Gold Free Play Days promo. Those who are interested and want to purchase either "Battlefield 1" or "Battlefield 1 Revolution" will also get a 40 percent discount if they buy the game from Sept. 19 to 25. As noted, if players opt to purchase these while the promotion is ongoing, their progress will then be carried over into the full game.
To download the game, players may visit the Xbox Live Store. Those with a Gold membership may simply click on the tile on their Xbox One dashboard's home page. The free to play weekend is reportedly EA's way of promoting the release of its newest downloadable content expansion that is called "In the Name of the Tsar." It is also part of the Battlefest Revolution, the community's celebration that takes place from September 19-30.
According to Windows Central, only the base game will be available for free during the weekend. The DLCs will not be included. However, players will still get to experience the game's single-player and multiplayer War Stories.
"Battlefield 1" is set directly after the first World War. Xbox Wire editor Mike Nelson said that gamers will enjoy seeing the storyline play out through the perspectives of the soldiers battered by war.
"The acclaimed Battlefield 1 is multiplayer warfare on an epic scale. In the global conflicts of the Great War, you'll experience all sides of World War I: from cavalry and brutal melee weapons, to the first tanks ever invented. No battle is ever the same and behemoths like airships or armored trains can turn the tide of a match," Nelson said on Xbox.com.
"Battlefield 1" is currently playable on the PS4, Xbox One and PC.
