'Battlefield 1' Latest Update: New DLC Weapons Revealed

Several new weapons are expected to be introduced in "Battlefield 1" with the game's upcoming downloadable content (DLC) pack, "They Shall Not Pass."

As part of the Community Test Environment (CTE) on the PC, "Battlefield 1" gamers get to have an early glimpse of the new weapons' features in the forthcoming DLC expansion pack. According to the CTE, "They Shall Not Pass" will be adding a total of 11 guns to the video game.

However, according to GameRant, some of these guns are simply variants for other weapons. For example, the new Lebel Model 1886 is listed twice because it has two variations: Infantry and Sniper. Three new melee weapons are also featured on the CTE server such as the brutal trench fleur, the cogwheel club and the crude nail knife.

The new DLC weapons cannot be unlocked through class rank and warbonds. Although that is the case in the base game of "Battlefield 1," DICE has chosen to implement a system similar to those applied in previous "Battlefield" games instead. Hence, players must complete certain challenges first before they get to unlock a particular gun.

Most of the new weapons require a specific kill using an original weapon from the base game before they can potentially be unlocked. The second challenges vary from reviving a specific number of teammates to others such as using the flare in performing spot assists.

The new melee weapons, on the other hand, can be unlocked after achieving 30 kills using an equivalent melee class base weapon such as the shovel, club and the trench knife.

"They Shall Not Pass" also introduces the French army to "Battlefield 1." The DLC expansion pack will also add three other France-set maps to the video game: Verdun Heights, Soissons, and Rupture. A new mode called "Frontlines" will also be added with the expansion, and is described as a combination of "Conquest" and "Rush" modes.

The DLC expansion pack, "The Shall Not Pass," is expected to come out sometime in March.
