'Battlefield 1' News: EA Details 'They Shall Not Pass' DLC and Upcoming Expansions
Electronic Arts (EA) has revealed more details about the downloadable content (DLC) packs coming to its hit first-person shooter video game, "Battlefield 1."
The second DLC was revealed to be called "In the Name of Tsar," which introduces the Russian army to the fold to "fight in snow-covered ravines and a freezing archipelago in four new maps."
The "Battlefield 1" DLC that will follow is "Turning Tides," in which players can "participate in the amphibious warfare of WW1 and engage in the daredevil Zeebrugge raid, the Gallipoli offensive, and more."
The last one is called "Apocalypse," which features "the most infamous battles of WW1" in which fans "conquer bitterly contested ground with brutal tools and unique weapons."
There are no release dates for these "Battlefield 1" DLCs yet. For now, fans can look forward to the first DLC, "They Shall Not Pass," which will add the "hardened veterans" of the French Army to the game.
To be released sometime this month, the expansion has four new maps including Fort De Vaux, where "Battlefield 1" players will fight it out in the "maze of dark galleries and wet stone corridors," and the French countryside of Soissons where one of the biggest tank assaults took place.
The other two maps in the "They Shall Not Pass" DLC is Rupture, a wreckage of previous tank battles, and Verdun Heights, fortresses that are now being eaten up by forest fires.
The DLC also adds a new game mode called Frontlines, which is described as "a mix of Conquest and Rush" in which players "fight for chained control points in a tug-of-war frontline."
The "They Shall Not Pass" DLC also adds new weapons and items such as the "epic new behemoth" called Char 2C tank and the St. Chamond deemed the most heavily armed allied tank of the war.
The "Battlefield 1" expansion also adds the Trench Raider Elite Class and brings in a new stationary weapon in the form of the Siege Howitzer.
Other main and melee weapons to expect include the Ribeyrolles 1918, RSC 1917, Lebel Model 1886, Chauchat, Sjögren Inertial, and the MLE 1903 Extended in addition to the Cogwheel Club, the Nail Knife and the Trench Fleur.
"They Shall Not Pass" also includes new medals, dog tags, service stars and codex entries for "Battlefield 1" players to unlock.
