Battlefield 4 DLC's and Expansions Halted Until Developers Fix Glitches and Server Issues

EA games announced that they would not be working on the new Battlefield 4 DLCs and expansions until the actual game is fixed of its glitches and bugs.

According to gamers, the online connection issues and server problems have become even worse with the release of the next-gen versions of the game.

"First, we want to thank the fans out there that are playing and supporting us with Battlefield 4. We know we still have a ways to go with fixing the game – it is absolutely our #1 priority. The team at DICE is working non-stop to update the game. Since Battlefield 4 China Rising expansion pack was already in the final stages of development by the time issues began with Battlefield 4, we decided to fulfill our promise to deliver it this week, but we're not moving onto future projects or expansions until we sort out all the issues with Battlefield 4. We know many of our players are frustrated, and we feel your pain. We will not stop until this is right," EA games said in a statement.

This is the second big announcement to come from the creators of the game. The first came last month from DICE, who apologized for the problems. In that time span things have gotten worse.

Yesterday, the new expansion, China Rising, was released, and even that had a number of problems.

"While exploring new battlegrounds in the Battlefield 4 expansion, China Rising, you may run into an occasional hiccup, issue, glitch, or problem that could interrupt or prohibit your gameplay," posted the Battlefield team on an EA Games help site.

Complaints from gamers so far have included being dropped from their servers immediately when trying to play the pack. Exclusive to the Xbox 360 version, players can't join servers or play the game. Another problem includes gamers not being able to download the pack until Dec. 17 despite it being out.

In order to download the new pack, Battlefield 4 owners have to first download a patch that fixes many of the glitches and errors in the game already. So far the update is available for the Microsoft consoles and Windows PC, but the Sony patch was delayed.

"I am extremely proud of the people at DICE and everyone across EA that contributed to the development of Battlefield 4," said Karl Magnus Troedsson, general manager at DICE. "However, I am less proud to see that the game has experienced some turbulence during the launch period. While some platforms have had only minor problems, others have had more than their fair share of issues. Resolving the launch issues is our #1 priority."

Battlefield 4 was released on Oct. 29 for the PS3, Xbox 360, and PC, the PS4 on Nov. 15, and the Xbox One on Nov. 22.
