Battlefield 4 Multiplayer Update Brings Squad Join Beta to Gamers; Launches on PS4, PS3, Xbox One, and 360
Battlefield 4 is finally launching its special Squad Feature for online multiplayer DICE announced in a recent posting on their forum.
"This is something we know our fans have been asking for – and something we wish we could have provided at launch – so we are now happy to present the first iteration of Squad Join," DICE said in a statement.
PS3, PS4, Xbox 360, and Xbox One will be hosting a beta for Squad Join, which lets groups of up to five players remain together for several rounds. DICE said they will continue to add and tweak the update until it launches with Dragon's Teeth DLC. According to GameSpot, Squad Join can only be used in Conquest, Team Deathmatch, Obliteration, Rush, and Domination's base maps.
Battlefield 4 is also receiving hardware improvements to the servers to fix a lag problem called "Rubber-Banding." Rubber-banding is when the player's lag and delay is so bad the game resets their character and respawns them before they can even really take more than a couple of steps with their character. It mostly happens when a server is stacked with a lot of players, reported SegmentNext.
It is also reported that the update may already be happening as players slowly will begin to see better results during gameplay. SegmentNext reported, the game's community manager, Dan Mitre said the company was, "Unhappy with [Battlefield 4's] server performance" and will "be upgrading the hardware as soon as possible, investing more to deliver a better experience."
