'Battlefield Hardline' News: 'Blackout' DLC Coming for Free

Following the Criminal Activity and Robbery expansions that players purchased for "Battlefield Hardline," Electronic Arts (EA) has announced that a new DLC will be available for players at no cost, soon.

Although there was no particular date given, fans are looking forward to the new nighttime-themed expansion called "Blackout." In a blog post on Battlefield Hardline's official website, EA teases fans with the question: "What happens when the lights go out, and criminal police factions are forced to face off under the slimmest sliver of light?"

The American developer says the prod team has been working behind the scenes to give their fans a surprise that they will surely love as it will be included in the same pack that the game update comes with.

The post further explains that "Blackout" will be packed with everything new: maps, weapons, gadgets, and lots of other improvements that players can enjoy. Centered on a theme of utter darkness, the new maps called Night Job and Night Woods, are actually the night versions of Bank Job and Backwoods.

To assist the forces as they go along dangerous trails, Night Vision Goggles are now available. As for the new weapons that could be utilized in all classes and factions of the game, RO933 comes in a brand-new version and a new Battle Rifle is also on the way.

EA is known for its generosity in terms of expansions, and with "Blackout," players will get new music, camos, positions and assignments, patches, and other stuff that should be purchased, but the developer just feels that it's the right time to give them all for free.

While the expansion requires the full game on applicable platforms, non-players will be interested to get it since EA has given Spectator Mode a boost. Players will be able to watch numerous squads in action as the team takes on crimes taking place in the dark.

"Battlefield Hardline" is the fastest-selling game in United Kingdom for 2015.
