'Battlefront II' News, Release Date: PlayStation Blog Confirms Darth Vader Is Playable in the Sequel
A new update has been dropped on "Battlefront II," confirming that Darth Vader will be one of its playable characters. The video game has yet to be released, but fans are already looking forward to it, especially now that it has been revealed that the character from "Star Wars: The Force Awakens" will be there to offer them a taste of the dark side of the Force.
"Battlefront II" serves as the follow-up to the 2015 "Battlefront" reboot, which was widely criticized by gamers due to its lack of single-player story mode. Now that "Battlefront II" is well on its way, gamers can expect the sequel to feature major improvements on the original game. The upcoming game will feature a new protagonist, Iden Versio, who will lead the Imperial Special Forces Group called the Inferno Squad. In the game, Iden Versio will be the focus of the single-player story mode, which the "Battlefront" reboot lacked.
The upcoming game will reportedly pick up after the explosion of the Death Star over Endor and will feature playable heroes and villains from the "Star Wars" franchise. It was already reported previously that characters like Luke Skywalker, Han Solo, Rey, Boba Fett, Darth Maul and Palpatine would be playable in the game. However, it was only this week that it was confirmed by PlayStation Blog that the Sith Lord Darth Vader would also join the rest as he comes to Xbox One, PS4, and PC when "Battlefront II" officially gets released.
In the "Star Wars" franchise, Darth Vader serves as the main antagonist in the original trilogy who becomes one of the most tragic characters in the prequels. Fans of the franchise consider him as one of the most iconic characters in "Star Wars: The Force Awakens."
"Battlefront II" is set to get its full release on PS4, Xbox One and PC on Nov. 17. Its beta ended on the morning of Oct. 9.
