Munich looked really impressive to start the competition as they thrashed the competition.
A 3-0 win over Olympiakos followed by a 5-0 thrashing of Dinamo Zagreb showed signs that Bayern were going to stroll along the group stages into the knockout rounds.
However, a trip to the Emirates Stadium against Arsenal showed a different side of the Bavarians.
They were outplayed by a hungry team and eventually gave up goals late in the game to stop them from trying to mount a comeback.
Olivier Giroud scored in the 77th minute, with Mesut Ozil finding the back of the net in injury time of the second half to hand Bayern their first loss of the competition.
And the win was big for Arsenal as they were desperately looking for points in the competition.
Despite being considered one of the stronger teams in the tournament, the Gunners went on to a slumping start as they lost to Dinamo Zagreb in their first match before dropping a 2-3 loss to Olympiakos at home.
With no points and facing Bayern, few gave the Gunners a chance and a loss meant almost ensured elimination from the competition.
However, the win has given them life and if they can pull another win in Germany, it will put them in the top two spots of the table and their momentum may carry them to the next round.
