'Baywatch' Movie News: Nina Dobrev Short-Listed for Female Lead Role?

When an adaptation for "Baywatch" was first announced, many fans went ballistic, but with news that the charming Nina Dobrev may be playing the female lead role, competition among fans was immediately fueled.

The rumor first emerged after Deadline said the names being short-listed for the female lead include Dobrev, Alexandra Daddario, Alexandra Shipp, Shelley Hennig, Denyse Tontz, and Ashley Benson. While some didn't notice the other names on the said list, Benson and Dobrev's names called for a topic of debate among fans who think the other will be the best pick for the upcoming movie.

It has already been confirmed that Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson and Zac Efron will be in for the male lead roles, but there's only one spot for the female lead.

Moviegoers know very well that movie adaptations aren't really the best ideas for the big screens after a large number of adaptations cashed out lots of cash for filming only to pick up not even half of the money used upon release of the movies.

While it has yet to be announced who the female lead is, Johnson and Efron's names being on the list of characters just may scrap the notion that most reboots are only a waste of time.

Original "Baywatch" star Pamela Anderson commented earlier last month that she will only believe the movie is a reality when she sees it. She also told E! News that she isn't sure how the film will fare in the box office, noting that titles look truly amazing in television but theaters are something else.

When asked about who she thinks is the best actress to take over her C.J. in the movie, she nonchalantly said, "I'm irreplaceable. No one could play me."

Meanwhile, the fight for the lone spot to play C.J. in the upcoming movie continues, and while Benson and Dobrev's fans are still feuding over who should be the female lead, production continues to work on a reboot that has not become a reality for over a decade.
