'Beetlejuice 2' plot spoilers: Tim Burton excited for the spin-off
It was confirmed that the sequel of "Beetlejuice" is expected to begin production by the end of this year.
The upcoming film will be called "Beetlejuice Goes Hawaiian," which will be a spin-off movie directed by Tim Burton. Reports by Cross Map stated that Burton is excited to begin the production for the film, with hopes that Michael Keaton will reprise his role as Beetlejuice. Burton also stated that Keaton is the only one fit to play Beetlejuice. Meanwhile, Keaton has also responded with interest in pursuing the role again.
The film will be written and produced by screenwriter Seth Grahame-Smith, who has worked on other titles such as "Pride and Prejudice and Zombies" and "Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter." He will be joined by David Katzenberg as writer and producer. Smith also mentioned that his team is enthusiastic in working with Keaton and Burton. He also confirmed that Lydia Deetz will be present in the film, with Winona Ryder as the actress to portray the role. He said, "[Burton] was doing press for Big Eyes right before the holiday, and was getting the 'Beetlejuice' question, and sort of tipped people off that Winona [Ryder] would be back. Which yes, she will be back. I think we landed on the right idea, landed on the right approach. It's just now making sure that-for me-I don't want to s*** my pants in front of the entire world making a sequel to one of my favorite movies."
While the production is still in its early phases, he did add that Burton is ready to make the set for "Miss Peregrine 'sHome for Peculiar Children." Also, the script is already close to finalization.
The original film of Beetlejuice was first released in 1988. It was the film that ignited Burton's gothic genre.
The release date for Beetlejuice Goes Hawaiian has yet to be confirmed.
