Ben Affleck Admits to Counting Cards, Being Banned From Blackjack Tables in Las Vegas
Ben Affleck admitted to counting cards in a recent interview. The "Argo" star said that he had become very proficient at blackjack, but it rubbed casino managers the wrong way, and he ended up being banned from the blackjack tables at several casinos for life in April.
Ben Affleck was at the Hard Rock Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas when the incident occurred. There were rumors that he had been counting cards and had been thrown out of the casino, and it turns out that the rumors were at least partially true.
"That is a true story. I mean, that took place. I took some time to learn the game and became a decent blackjack player," he told Details magazine. "And once I became decent, the casinos asked me not to play blackjack. I mean, the fact that being good at the game is against the rules at the casinos should tell you something about casinos."
But Affleck decided to clear up tabloid reports that said he was thrown out of the Hard Rock Hotel and Casino.
"No, I wish! That would be awesome. 'Get him outta here! He's a magician!' Unfortunately, they just came up and said, 'We can't let you play blackjack. But we have other table games! We have Chinese poker!'" he said.
He did say that he was banned from their blackjack table, however. Other casinos got word of the incident and also banned him from the casino.
