'Berserk' Season 2 Episode 2: Black Swordsman Guts' Vengeful Rampage Continues in Dark Fantasy Anime's Sophomore Year
A brand-new season of the Japanese anime series "Berserk" kicked off with back-to-back episodes featuring the continuing adventures and struggles of Guts, the infamous "Black Swordsman."
While the first season picked up from the Golden Age Arc film trilogy and covered the Conviction Arc featured in the manga that followed the 1997 anime series of the same name, the ongoing second season will now be seeing Guts through the Hawk of the Millennium Empire Arc and beyond.
Crunchyroll will be streaming the rest of the anime worldwide, except for Asia, New Zealand and Australia. According to the general synopsis for the season, Guts will keep up with his seemingly insatiable quest for revenge and barrel mindlessly through hordes of adversaries, even at the cost of his life.
His enemies will consist of the usual suspects: the heinous outlaws and delusional spirits. This season, he may also find himself face-to-face with a devout child of god. These enemies wield incredible and repulsive powers that may be too much for a normal human to take. But Guts will take them all on with the strength of his body and the merciless acuteness of his sword.
And at the end of it all, he may find himself faced with a mystery hidden in the "night." How will his new battles change him as a man and warrior unwaveringly set in his vengeful ways? Will he keep on with an endless rampage, or will he find a spark of light and hope along the way?
The trailer for episode 3 of season 2, which is the 15th overall episode, does not seem to give much hope to Guts' life just yet. He will instead continue to battle enemies on horseback and may also find himself face-to-face with an old acquaintance.
"Berserk" airs every Friday at 10 p.m. JST on WOWOW in Japan.
