'Big Bang Theory' Spoilers: Season 10 To Be The Last?

Now that the cast of CBS' popular sitcom "The Big Bang Theory" has successfully passed some major life events, including the wedding of Penny (Kaley Cuoco) and Leonard (Johnny Galecki) and, in the winter finale, Amy (Mayim Bialik) and Sheldon (Jim Parsons) having sex for the first time, is it the end of the line for the lovable nerds and their friends?

"The reality is that maybe season 10 is the ending point," "Big Bang Theory" showrunner Steve Molaro told The Hollywood Reporter. With the cast checking off so many important milestones in their individual stories, could the show be nearing its conclusion?

Apart from Penny and Leonard tying the knot in Vegas and Amy and Sheldon losing their virginities, other "Big Bang" characters have made great strides in Season 9 as well. Raj (Kunal Nayyar), who, in previous seasons, was unable to speak to women without first getting inebriated, is in a relationship. Bernadette (Melissa Rauch) and Howard (Simon Helberg) are considering having children.

The "Big Bang Theory" cast is already signed into a multiyear deal covering the 2016-17 season. But while it may appear that that season could be the show's last and that producers could already be wrapping up the various storylines in Season 10, executive producer Molaro is noncommittal.

"The real answer is I don't know and all I can do right now is go episode to episode and try to make each one the best that we can," he said. Molaro added: "There's still so many episodes to go. Even if hypothetically Season 10 was the end, I wouldn't be focusing on that yet. That seems like something that would be dealt with way down the line."

According to "Big Bang" co-creator Chuck Lorre, one of the episodes he still wants to see is the one with Sheldon and Leonard's big scientific breakthrough. He said, "I'm still fascinated with how their work might impact their personal lives and seeing how progress in their work can change their characters, relationships and themselves."

"Big Bang Theory" continues its ninth season with Episode 12 titled "The Sales Call Sublimation" on Jan. 7 on CBS.
