'Big Brother 19' News: Paul Abrahamian Responds to Critics; Raven Walton Defends Her Illness As Josh Martinez Wins Final HoH
If there's anything viewers can expect from "Big Brother" is that its houseguests will always be embroiled in a controversy one way or another. As season 19 ended with Josh Martinez winning the final Head of Household (HoH) title, Paul Abrahamian and Raven Walton addressed their critics in separate interviews.
Abrahamian once again emerged up as the runner-up in "Big Brother" season 19. The reality TV star landed on the same spot nearly a year ago when he became a first-time contender in season 18.
Abrahamian said he didn't win HoH on his return because the houseguest jury did not understand how the game of "Big Brother" should be played.
"I did what I did and had to face 16 people and I was the only vet," Abrahamian told The Hollywood Reporter. "I don't know what they expected me to do other than swindle my way to the top."
Indeed, Abrahamian's strategy all throughout "Big Brother" season 19 was to lie and manipulate the other contestants so he can worm his way to Top 2. Viewers thought he'll emerge the big winner for his cunning strategy. But in a surprising twist, the jury awarded the honors to Matinez.
"I don't know why they don't like me, but I don't really care," Abrahamian said, adding that while his fellow houseguests saw him as the villain, he was only playing the game knowing that this was how his followers would want him to play.
Meanwhile, another houseguest had to straighten up the perception that she lied on the show in order to gain sympathy and win, or at least land in the finals. Raven Walton opened up about her gastroparesis illness early in the season and some of her housemates saw her scars and pacemaker.
The houseguests, however, started doubting her stories and evicted her from the "Big Brother" house following an #ExposeRavenParty. Walton professed via Entertainment Weekly that she really has terminal illnesses and can't control what people refuse to believe.
"Big Brother" season 19 ended on Wednesday, Sept. 20, on CBS after 39 weeks.
