Billy Ray Cyrus Talks Miley Cyrus' Health

Billy Ray Cyrus is a country music star in his own right, but he recently spoke on behalf of his famed daughter Miley.

Miley, the 21-year-old singer who has been performing on her "Bangerz" tour, was recently hospitalized due to an allergic reaction to the medicine Cephalexin. The singer was prescribed the drug after suffering from a sinus infection and forced to postpone some tour dates, according to E! News.

After her condition seemed to be improving, Cyrus was forced to cancel additional tour dates, her father decided to speak directly to fans about the situation.

"I'm here to say thanks to the fans," he told People on the red carpet of the iHeart Radio Music Awards. "Their love and support has been tremendous."

The elder Cyrus insisted, "she's doing much better.. you know, right now we're just getting her back, healthy."

He went on to explain his daughter's condition.

"She had an allergic reaction to antibiotics," the Cyrus Patriarch said. "She's feeling much, much better. The tour resumes this weekend and 'Bangerz' train is back on track."

Cyrus' representatives released a statement detailing the setbacks that she faced on her road to recovery.

"Cyrus is continuing to recover from the severe allergic reaction she suffered on April 15. After a period of improvement, Cyrus' symptoms have returned and Doctor's will not permit her to travel," a statement from the singer's representatives obtained by E! reads. "Cyrus must remain under Doctor's care at this time. The London date at O2 Arena will proceed as planned on May 6th."

After being released from the hospital following an extended stay, Cyrus spoke to KIIS FM's radio host Ryan Seacrest about her scary experience.

"It was so scary," Cyrus told Seacrest Monday. "When you're allergic to something, you're literally poisoning yourself, so I had just been poisoning myself for a week with something I didn't know I was really, scary allergic to."
