Black Friday 2011: iPhone and Android Apps Score Best Deals

With Black Friday only a little more than a week away, consumers are going all out in preparation to find the most amazing deals possible. This year, it is expected that more and more people will be turning to their smartphones to discover where the best prices for their most desired products are.

With retail giants such as Walmart and Best Buy advertising deals weeks before the arrival of Black Friday, people are using the power of the internet and their smartphones to determine just where they can get the most bang for their buck.

According to a recent survey, 20 percent of shoppers will be using their smartphones to decipher which stores have the most competitive deals by scanning bar codes, downloading coupons and comparing prices on their devices.

People are taking Black Friday seriously as apps for the shopping day such as TGI Black Friday are currently among the most popular at Apple’s App Store.

Furthermore, this year Black Friday will be extra long with many of the largest retail stores pulling out all the stops by offering deals online, offering early specials and opening doors at midnight on America's most popular shopping day.

Some stores, such as Walmart and Toys “R” Us, have opted to go a step further and open shop on Thanksgiving Day in what some call an insensitive effort to lure shoppers into amassing their discounted products.

Experts predict more consumers will be searching for deals and bargains this holiday season as Americans have felt their wallets tighten and prices on many goods have increased.

American Express conducted a survey that suggests that 42 percent of shoppers will be taking part in Black Friday specials at their local malls and shops.

Shopping experts recommend that people have the products they are hoping to purchase in mind and already know where they are located in the store to make sure that they are able to get their hands on the season’s most popular goods.

This year is projected to be the largest Black Friday yet, especially with stores extending shopping hours and the power of the Internet offering people discounts from the comfort of their homes.

Cyber Monday is also expected to see a large increase this year and it is predicted that Internet traffic will rise by 75 percent on the Monday following Thanksgiving.
