Blackberry KeyOne Review, Specs and Features: Above Average Hardware With Impressive Specs
Blackberry has entered a new age for its smartphones with the launch of the Blackberry KeyOne. Blackberry handsets are now being designed and built by TCL and the new smartphone is the first fruit of this partnership.
On the surface, the Blackberry KeyOne looks classy with its gold, backlit keyboard. It also incorporates an elegant black and silver pattern with a rubber back. The handset is thicker and heavier compared with previous Blackberry smartphone models, but its size of 5.87 x 2.85 x 0.37 inches makes it feel just right in one's hands.
Weighing 6.35 oz, the phone also has good and easy-to-use hardware controls. On its left is the power button, on its right is the volume control, and beneath it is the mute key. Located between the screen and the hardware keyboard are the navigation buttons that are placed on a capacitive screen.
When it comes to its display, the Blackberry KeyOne is an unorthodox choice. It features a 4.5-inch screen and 1,080 x 1,620 pixel resolution, which is equivalent to an aspect ratio of 2:3. Its resolution is good enough to view spreadsheets and documents clearly and its pixel-per-inch density is perfect for those who are after sharp images.
The smartphone features an IPS LCD panel that is shielded by a Gorilla Glass 4 sheet. While it is not the latest generation of the heet, it is considered as one of the most reliable and most used tempered glass for high-end handsets.
KeyOne is powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 625 and is built on 14-nm technology. Like most smartphones today, it is packed with an Adreno 506 GPU and features an octa-core processor.
As for its camera, KeyOne comes with a 12-MP sensor and a lens aperture of F2.0. Its selfie snapper sports an 8-MP sensor so it can capture highly detailed images.
While most of its features seem promising, its memory is a bit less than tech enthusiasts might expect. It comes with only 3 GB of RAM so it may not be as good at multitasking as other upper-midrange handsets that usually have 4 GB of RAM. It also has an internal storage of 32 GB and a microSD card slot that can be expanded to up to 2 TB.
Today, the Blackberry KeyOne comes with a tag price of $549 in the U.S. Some of its specs may not be as impressive as those of other devices, but there is no denying that its hardware is above average and is chic enough to make anyone look classy.
