Blackberry Passport Release Date: Smartphone Coming Sept. 24 in Canada, UK, and Dubai
Although Blackberry is certainly lagging behind the rest of smartphone market, it hasn't stopped them from releasing their own smartphone lines. The latest in their offerings, the Blackberry Passport, is ready for a Sept. 24 release.
The company has already been sending out invites for three events it will be holding simultaneously in three different countries: Toronto, Canada, London, England and Dubai in the United Arab Emirates.
Although Blackberry still has their money on their QWERTY phone lines, they have a lot resting on the shoulders of the odd-looking Blackberry Passport. Even though the device hasn't been released yet, a spec list and a detailed review can already be seen on GSMArena.

The Passport will be getting a 4.5-inch LCD square display with a resolution of 1440 x 1440 and Corning Gorilla Glass 3 protection. The Blackberry device will be almost as large as most standard sized smartphones but will also be almost as wide, gaining it its odd-looking rhomboid profile.
As for the specs, the Passport will be packing a Qualcomm Snapdragon 800 quad-core 2.2GHz Krait 400 processor, an Adreno 330 graphics processor, 3GB of RAM, as well as 32GB of internal memory storage which can be extended with a microSD card.
Although the phone will be getting a 4.5-inch 1:1 ratio screen, the signature Blackberry QWERTY keypad will still be present. The keypad also acts as a secondary touchpad where users will be able to use some gestures like deleting words quickly by swiping to the left.
The Passport won't come cheap, however, as GSMArena reports that the phone will go for around $760.
It is likely that hardcore Blackberry fans will be getting the Passport but it is still uncertain whether the company can hope to fight the competition.
