BlackBerry Priv News: Smartphone Could Be a Dark Horse
This year has proven to be good to the mobile industry as tech giants, such as Apple, Samsung, LG, and some others, have made a fuss among consumers with the flagships released.
One of the hottest smartphones that came out this year is the BlackBerry Priv. While it still comes with a hefty price compared to other phones that could basically compare to it in terms of some specs, it did give the company bigger figures compared to the previous phones released.
In the past few years, talk has been rampant about the globally acclaimed company struggling. While it was on top of the market some years back, its decision to target the business segment eventually became the main reason why a lot of people opted for other brands.
When the company totally eradicated its popular QWERTY keypad, some light was seen shining at the end of the tunnel. However, opting for a touch screen model still didn't seem enough for the community as it is obvious that the market is all for Android phones.
The Priv is BlackBerry's first Android-powered phone and it was one of the reasons why consumers saw potential in the phone. Experts say another aspect that made the Priv a hit among consumers is its sleek and thin build.
One of the more common features that consumers noticed is its improved camera specs. Reports state that the Priv excels in video quality, as well as still images. According to GSM Arena, DxO Labs praised the new smartphone for its 18-megapixel shooter that made it to the top 10 among other mobile cameras that ever made it to the company's testing desk.
Aside from the mentioned specs, BlackBerry still focused on high-end security for its users, but it has now obtained a good name in terms of quality and durability.
The company has reported 700,000 sales in the third quarter of 2015, but with the rumored price drop coming sometime in February of 2016, it is expected that the demand for the Priv will finally allow it to be a notable dark horse in the competition.
