'Blade Runner 2' Cast Reveals Dave Bautista
The classic neo-noir science fiction film "Blade Runner" is getting a sequel after more than a decade. Released in 1982, fans of the film that starred Harrison Ford, Sean Young and Rutger Hauer will finally get a continuation on the adventures of Replicant Hunter Rick Deckard. Not a lot is known yet regarding the details of the second part but Coming Soon reported that there are names of stars that have surfaced already to be part of the cast.
According to the source, Ford will reprise his role as Deckard. Golden Globe winner Robin Wright has also been tapped to play a part in the film, as well as "The Notebook" star Ryan Gosling. Apart from the three, no one else has been associated to the film until Dave Bautista's Twitter post.
As noted in NME, the "Spectre" Bond villain tweeted a post just recently and it says that he has exciting news to announce soon. Along with the tweet is an image of him staring at an origami unicorn which is the same symbol that Deckard grasped at the end of the 1982 original film. He may not have said anything specific or more than that but fans take it as hint of his being part of the yet to be formally titled sequel. It's also still to be known if the character he will be playing will be a real human or as a Replicant. Fans will have to wait and see then.
Other details are strictly kept under wrap but Collider reported that Denis Villeneuve of "Sicario," and "Prisoners" has been tasked to helm the project. Moreover, Hampton Fancher, who co-wrote the original, will write the script along with Michael Green. "Blade Runner 2" will be set several years after the happenings of the first film. The second movie is expected to be released in theaters on Jan. 12, 2018.
