Blake Lively Shocks in New Look for Spy Thriller 'The Rhythm Section'
Blake Lively began filming her new spy thriller "The Rhythm Section" last Sunday. The actress was seen on the streets of Ireland looking totally unrecognizable as a heroin-addicted character.
Photos of the actress from the set of "The Rhythm Section" made its way online, which left fans shocked. The usually glamorous looking star was dressed in shabby and baggy clothes with little makeup and an unflattering wig.
Lively plays Stephanie Patrick in this film, who goes on a path of self-destruction. Her character deals with an immense loss after a plane crash that killed her family.
Stephanie, however, will learn that the crash was not an accident. It pushes her to avenge the deaths and she later trains to become an assassin who goes after the people responsible for killing her loved-ones.
Lively talked about her character's look during a Vanity Fair podcast. She stressed that while Stephanie is a sex worker, she's far from appearing glamorous and appealing for the sake of the movie.
"If you drive down skid row, that's not what you see. That's not the truth," Lively said. "So it's really important to us to show a woman who society has written off, and society has forgotten about."
"The Rhythm Section" is the first in four book series written by author Mark Burnell. The latter also writes the screenplay that Reed Morano ("The Handmaid's Tale) directs for the big screen. The film also stars Jude Law.
James Bond producers Michael G. Wilson and Barbara Broccoli of the EON banner are behind the film. IM Global and Paramount are also on the project.
Meanwhile, Lively's husband Ryan Reynolds and their two daughters are temporarily living in Ireland while she's working on her new movie. The couple reportedly rented an apartment in Dalkey, a suburb in Dublin's southern site.
"Before they arrived, they arranged for fresh flowers to be displayed in the apartment, and they even had a new trampoline put in the garden for their daughters James and Ines," a source shared.
"The Rhythm Section" will open in theaters on Feb. 22, 2019.
