Blake Lively Spy Film 'The Rhythm Section' Cast News: Jude Law In Talks to Join
Jude Law is in negotiations to join Blake Lively in her spy film "The Rhythm Section." EON Productions under executives Michael G. Wilson and Barbara Broccoli, which produces James Bond movies, is eyeing the actor to board the project.
Law's role in "The Rhythm Section" has not been determined but the movie will have Lively play an assassin who tracks down her family's killers. The film is based on a book of the same title, which Mark Burnell published in 1999.
Lively will assume Stephanie Patrick who discovers the plane crash that killed her family was not an accident. The character's story has a potential franchise development as "The Rhythm Section" is the first book in the series.
Work on the movie will begin later this year in the U.K., Ireland, and Scotland under the direction of Reed Morano, who recently nabbed her Emmy for Best Director for "The Handmaid's Tale." Burnell will also be writing the screenplay.
Law marks 2017 as another busy year career-wise. He recently wrapped up filming the sequel to "Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them," where he plays a young Dumbledore and he's also in talks to return as Dr. John Watson in the third "Sherlock Holmes" movie with Robert Downey Jr.
Law will also begin work in the new Woody Allen film, which will star Elle Fanning and Selena Gomez.
Meanwhile, Lively is physically preparing for her grueling role as an assassin in "The Rhythm Section." On Instagram, the actress shared a photo of herself at a rock climbing gym and captioned this with a joke about what really motivates her to scale the wall.
Before beginning work on "The Rhythm Section," however, Lively will wrap up filming "A Simple Favor" with Anna Kendrick and director Paul Feig. The film is about a small-town mom blogger (Kendrick) whose best friend (Lively) disappears.
"The Rhythm Section" has no theater date release for now.
