Blizzard Facebook Streaming Arrives: Players Can Now Live-Stream 'World of Warcraft,' 'Overwatch,' 'Hearthstone' & Other Battle.net Games
Following its big announcement in June, Blizzard Streaming finally goes live. The new feature, which is a collaboration of game developer Blizzard and Facebook, allows players to easily initiate a live stream for Battle.net games on Facebook.
Blizzard Games on Facebook Live
According to Forbes, Blizzard Streaming is a new feature for Battle.net that will enable players to play Blizzard games on their PC while broadcasting on Facebook Live. In a single click, the Facebook friends of the user can watch the live gameplay and post real-time comments.
Blizzard Streaming can be availed by players who are using Blizzard's Battle.net client in Americas, Australia, New Zealand and Southeast Asia. It will also be rolled out across the globe in the coming weeks.
Moreover, Blizzard Streaming is currently exclusive for Windows PC users, but it will be made available for Mac computers in the future. The innovative feature is perfectly suitable to all hit Blizzard games including "World of Warcraft," "Overwatch," "Hearthstone: Heroes of Warcraft," "Heroes of the Storm," "StarCraft II" and "Diablo III."
How to Use Blizzard Streaming
To use the Blizzard Streaming, per PC Gamer, players must update their Battle.net client. Upon updating, a camera icon will appear in the upper right corner beside the player's username. Once the icon is clicked, it will prompt the players to log in to their Facebook account and enable the permissions needed to activate the feature.
After the link to the Facebook account is established, a streaming window will pop out. The window will allow the players to configure the live stream based on their preferences. Players will have the options and controls for the title of the live stream, microphone and webcam, as well as, the Facebook friends who can watch and comment on the live-streamed footage.
There are also advanced settings for players who want deeper tweaks on their live stream. After gamers pick their desired settings, they can immediately start to live stream their gameplay by simply clicking the "Start Stream" option.
Will Blizzard Streaming Overtake Twitch?
According to Tech Times, the arrival of Blizzard Streaming has been viewed as Facebook's first step to unseat Twitch, the leading video game streaming service owned by Amazon. The new feature has the potential to topple Twitch given the fact that there are 650 million users who play games linked to Facebook.
Twitch currently has a solid community composed of 100 million users. But with Blizzard Streaming offering a much wider audience, the dominance of Twitch is expected to be challenged.
