'Bloodline' Season 2 News: Danny's Son and Younger Self Speaks Up
Owen Teague Shares Experience in Portraying Both Young Danny and His Son
After a dramatic season of "Bloodline," viewers were introduced to Danny's son, Nolan. The character was played by Owen Teague, who also had the chance to play a younger version of Danny earlier in the season.
Multiple Flashbacks
The show presented several flashbacks, telling the story of the Rayburn's conflict. With that, younger versions of the characters were presented to illustrate what happened to their youngest sibling. Because of Teague and Ben Mendelsohn's similar looks, Teague was able to snag another role later in "Bloodline" Season 1.
After the death of Danny, Nolan was presented to the story. "Bloodline" Season 2 showed the chaos that Nolan brought to the family, much like his dad. Many fans found their appearance uncanny, leading to questions asking if Teague was actually Mendelsohn's son.
Teague is Mendelsohn's Son?
Yahoo was able to speak to Teague regarding his role in "Bloodline," where he confirmed that he is not actually Mendelsohn's son. However, he did share that he was not expected to play Nolan in the upcoming episodes of "Bloodline."
According to Teague, he got a call from the casting director after shooting his scenes as the younger version of Danny. The casting director told Teague about the role of Danny's son, which they offered to him.
Teague said, "They were like, "Owen, we'd like you to read for it." I did, and it was kind of weird, because I'd never heard of anyone doing that, where they're double cast like that. Three days later, literally hours before we would have had to leave to go shoot, they told us, "You got the part. Get down here in eight hours. We have to shoot the last scene of the season."
He also said that he watched "Bloodline" Season 1 carefully in order to capture the mannerisms and behavior of Danny.
"This is a guy who would come over for three days and then tell Nolan he was going to stay, but just leave. There wasn't a lot of time that Nolan would get to spend with him, but when he did, he really picked up on the Danny-like things he would do," Teague shared.
In addition, Teague working with Ben throughout the shooting also helped him prepare for the role. Teague spoke about the instance where he asked Ben to teach him how to smoke. Through that, he also learned how to move and converse like Danny.
"Bloodline" Season 2 is currently streaming on Netflix.
