'Bloodshot' Movie Latest News: Sony, Valiant Tap Dave Wilson as Director

A film adaptation of Valiant Comics' "Bloodshot" is in the works, and it was recently revealed that the project has finally landed a director.

According to a report by Bleeding Cool, Academy Award-nominated screenwriter Eric Heisserer and Valiant chief executive Dinesh Shamdasani have announced at the Emerald City Comic Con that Sony and Valiant Entertainment's "Bloodshot" movie will be directed by Dave Wilson.

Wilson has worked with "Deadpool" director Tim Miller in the past at Blur Studios. Considered as one of the leading directors in special effects and video game commercials, he has directed cinematics for various video games including "Halo 2," "Mass Effect 2," and "BioShock Infinite." He also did major promo pieces for "Titanfall 2," and the mini-movie "Star Wars: The Old Republic." "Bloodshot" will be his first feature.

"Bloodshot" was one of the first projects lined up for development when it was announced around two years ago that Sony and Valiant had partnered up to create a cinematic universe based on Valiant's comic book characters.

At the time, "John Wick" directors David Leitch and Chad Stahelski were attached to direct the movie adaptation. However, the pair has gotten busy with other projects since then.

The script for the upcoming "Bloodshot" movie has been penned by Heisserer, who also wrote the script for Sony and Valiant's other feature film project, "Harbinger." According to reports, Sony has plans to develop two films in both the "Bloodshot" and "Harbinger" franchises before crossing over the characters with a "Harbinger War" feature film. However, it remains uncertain whether these plans will materialize.

Valiant's "Bloodshot" comic book series is created by Kevin Van Hook, Don Perlin and Bob Layton. It tells the story of a former soldier who was killed and then resurrected with technological upgrades by filling his body with billions of nanobots. The changes in his body makes him the perfect solider as the technology he is brought to life with allows him to heal from injuries and even shapeshift.
