'Bloodstained: Ritual of the Night' Latest News: New Gameplay Video Revealed

"Bloodstained: Ritual of the Night," the side-scrolling stylistic successor to the "Castlevania" series by famed game producer Koji Igarashi, has a new gameplay video. The gothic adventure title has raised more than $5.5 million via crowdfunding and is due to launch next year.

Backers and fans of "Bloodstained: Ritual of the Night" just got a new update in the form of a gameplay video, from former "Castlevania" producer Koji Igarashi himself, via the title's Kickstarter page.

The new video represents the current progress that Inti Creates, the development studio leading the creation of the game, has made until today. The clip also shows off new backgrounds, including one for the courtyards of the game.

The teaser clip also introduces Zangetsu, the boss shown in the battle clip near the end. He will be one of the major bosses coming to the game next year, as Igarashi described the update.

"Zangetsu is a samurai character we've previously announced. He resents anyone and anything tainted by demonic power," the famed game producer explained, as quoted by Eurogamer.

"As a result, he's hostile toward Miriam, whose existence is directly connected to the demon ritual. This is also a new stage we're introducing for the first time," Igarashi continued as he described the development update video, their ninth so far since launching the crowdfunding campaign for "Bloodstained: Ritual of the Night."

The former "Castlevania" series producer has raised $5,545,991 in Kickstarter to fun the game as of this time. There are 64,867 backers that have supported the project financially, with those pledging $60 or more due to receive a Special Backer Edition physical copy of the game when it launches next year.

The video below shows the new areas designed for the upcoming "Bloodstained: Ritual of the Night," as well as the combat gameplay and a new boss. The exploration platformer will be out for the PC, Xbox One, PlayStation 4, Wii U and PlayStation Vita sometime in 2018.
