'Bones' Season 11 News, Spoilers: Showrunner Michael Peterson Dishes Details Ahead of Season 11 Premiere Showing

The latest season of Fox's hit TV series "Bones" is expected to premiere this week and executive producer Michael Peterson dropped more details on what fans need to know before the show returns to the small screens.

Courtesy of The Hollywood Reporter, the new showrunner first off clarified to the publication that taking over the Hart Hanson drama was a bit of a challenge.

However, what he and co-executive producer John Collier did was to go back to the formula that makes the show what it is to today and that is focusing on its characters.

"The best way, as always has been to be good to these characters. The big thing is the season has to be character-based," the EP told THR.

Peterson also shared to the media outlet the countless scenarios they played inside the writers' room. Despite the many options, they decided to remain rooted on how the viewers see Brennan (Emily Deschanel) and Booth (David Boreanaz).

"They can't escape who they are and their fate is really to do this job. That's what brought them together in the first place and it's not just something they can run away from," Peterson added (via THR).

The premiere, which is reportedly to be shown in two parts, will find Booth as an instructor at the FBI. The new gig apparently gave him a relatively peaceful life that is far from any sort of danger.

Brennan, on the other hand, has had a baby boy and will be found spending most of her time doing her job as a mother. Nonetheless, the situation won't hinder her from doing any other productive work. Peterson revealed that during this time, she has written one novel and an academic text.

The lab, as further divulged by the show boss, has been functioning "as it would without Brennan" and Arastoo (Pej Vahdat) is the one taking over the reins.

As for what fans should expect in the upcoming season, Peterson warned that they intend to "shake everyone up" in the show.

"It's not going to be a business as usual season. Everything is going to be true to the characters but there are going to be some major, major developments," he said (via THR).

"Bones" Season 11 kicks off this Thursday, October 1, on Fox.
