'Bones' Season 12 Episode 12: Can Explosive Penultimate Episode Lead to Satisfying Series Finale?

The Jeffersonian Institute's Medico-Legal laboratory may be no more, but the search for the villainous Kovac (Gerard Celasco) continues in the 12th and final episode of "Bones: The Final Chapter."

The previous episode ended on a cliffhanger, with Booth (David Boreanaz) desperately calling out for his wife, Brennan (Emily Deschanel), as a series of bombs began to explode throughout the Jeffersonian Institute. Kovac had been hard-pressed on exacting his revenge on Booth, who killed his father many years ago. Did the series' final and most vicious villain finally succeed in avenging his father on Booth by killing the FBI agent's wife?

The official synopsis for the upcoming series finale reveals that Brennan may indeed suffer from a setback caused by the explosions, but she may eventually be strong enough to join Booth on a hunt for Kovac before their vengeful adversary thinks about going after their children again. But while Brennan recovers from her injuries, her team will more than effectively hold the fort and use everything she has taught them to track Kovac down.

What they will find out is that Kovac has had outside help, who may then lead them to the man's hideout. Will the team be able to bring Kovac down once and for all?

In an interview with Entertainment Weekly, executive producer Michael Peterson teased that things will get worse first before they start getting better.

"But ultimately, have faith. We will hopefully wrap it up in a way that'll be satisfying," Peterson said.

The "Bones" series finale, which will be directed by Boreanaz, will air on Tuesday, March 28 at 9:01 p.m. EDT on FOX.

And as a treat to fans, FOX has also released a retrospective video featuring the 12 years of crime solving and camaraderie that the cast and crew of the long-running crime drama series have shared among themselves and with their fans.
