'Boruto: Naruto Next Generations' Spoilers News: Story Set in Modern Times; Boruto Goes to Ninja Academy
The popular long-running Japanese animated series "Naruto Shippuden" is launching a spin-off series titled "Boruto: Naruto Next Generations," which will premiere on April 5.
The new series will focus on Naruto's son, Boruto, who is bound to represent the next generation of ninjas, similar to what his father did. Naruto, in the meantime, is also prepared to stand by his son on his journey towards becoming a ninja.
The creators of the series appear to have taken the term "Next Generations" literally as the story's setting will incorporate a more modern approach - showing and incorporating into the show the usual signs of urban life such as buildings, cars and modern technology.
Unfortunately, modern life and its development seems to have eliminated the way of the ninja, which is essentially Boruto's dilemma in the upcoming show.
Even then, Boruto will still be accepted in a ninja academy where he will meet new challenges and people - including the children of the other "Naruto Shippuden" characters and some of Naruto's friends.
Boruto will be classmates with Mitsuki (Orochimaru's son) and Sarada (Sasuke's daughter), and fans expect that the three, at some point, will become close friends.
During the Jump Fiesta event in December last year, series creator Masashi Kishimoto shared that he plans for "Boruto: Naruto Next Generations" to have a lighter story compared to "Naruto Shippuden," which took a darker turn in the course of its series-run. Despite its lighter theme, Kishimoto assures fans that the story will still be enjoyable.
As for "Naruto Shippuden," the final episode, which is its 500th episode, is scheduled to air by March 23. Fans speculate that in this final episode, the wedding of Naruto to Boruto's mother, Hinata, will be featured.
In addition, many of the main characters will still be around on several episodes of the upcoming "Boruto: Naruto Next Generations" series to ensure that the story's transition will be explained well.
