Bose SoundSport Free Release Date, Specs & Price news: Bose's Answer To The AirPods
Audio manufacturer Bose has recently released its first fully truly wireless earphones aimed at people who need earphones to use while exercising. Called the SoundSport Free, the buds are will be available in the US and will ship to other markets next year.
Being aimed at customers with active lifestyles, the earphones are water and sweat resistant. They also weigh just 0.35 ounces and measuring 1.1 inches high and 1.2 inches deep. Being fully wireless means there's nothing that will get tangled with heavy activity on the part of the user.
According to Bose, the earphones house a new antennae system that provides a reliable connection between them. They can work with devices up to 30 feet away and lasts up to five hours when fully charged. The charging case magnetically keeps the buds in place and also serves as a power bank providing about 10 hours more listening time.
One useful feature that the buds is "find my buds" which gives the users the last place they used their buds via an app in case they misplaced them. There's also an option to access digital assistants like Siri, Alexa, or Google Assistant by pressing the button on the right earbud.
At $250, the SoundSport Free is $90 more expensive than Apple's AirPods which is arguably the most popular truly wireless earphones. However, the focus on athletes and active people make it a more compelling choice at least for that demographic despite the higher price.
Fans of Bose's StayHear+ Sports tips and a semi-open design might also opt for the SoundSport Free instead of Apple's AirPods as it doesn't require the user to jam the tips into their ears to maximize sound quality. The earphones will be available in either midnight blue or yellow citron and are set to be released this October.
