Boy Dragged to Death Behind Carjackers: 'Mommy Help Me!' 4-Year-Old Screamed

A boy was dragged to death in his mother's car after it was stolen by carjackers in Reiger Park, East Rand, South Africa Saturday night at about 7:30 p.m. Taegrin Morris, 4, was ripped from his mother's arms because he got tied up in the seatbelt of her VW Golf, and the thieves sped off with him still in tow.

The boy was dragged to death on the ground beside the car and screamed "Mommy, help me!" 37-year-old Chantel Morris told Eyewitness News. Those were the last words she heard from her 4-year-old boy.

"I asked them to let me get my children out, they could take whatever they wanted, but please let me have my children. I went to the back to pull out Taegrin," she explained. 'I grabbed him and I held him and I pulled him, but he was stuck in the seat belt."

Morris had been in the car with her husband and two children when three thieves held guns to her head to steal the car. The woman's husband Elwin and 8-year-old daughter Erin managed to get out, but her son couldn't escape, and the carjackers drove away with him.

"I don't know how many times they drove over him. They drove over my child," Morris said.

Witnesses saw the incident and joined Morris in running after the carjackers, but they thugs did not stop.

The car was found abandoned about 4 km (2.5 miles) down the road with young Taegrin beside it, dead.

Police have offered 50,000 rand (about $5,000USD) for any information that leads to the arrest of the carjackers.

"I feel like killing these people," Taegrin's father, Elwin, told Eyewitness News. "God must help the police catch them first before I do."
