'Bridget Jones Baby': Who Is the Baby's Father?

Rene Zellweger is back to reprise her role in the third installment "Bridget Jones's Baby," the sequel to "Bridget Jones: The Edge of Reason," and the first trailer is already out. As the title says, Zellweger's Bridget finds herself pregnant in her forties, single again after a recent divorce from her long-time love, Mark Darcy (Colin Firth), but with a new love interest, the oozing sexy billionaire, Jack Qwant (Patrick Dempsey). It's all about the baby this time around. In fact, the question everybody is asking is "Who is the father?"

But no one seems to know, not even Bridget—or Zellweger for that matter. It seems the producers are keen on keeping everyone in the dark regarding this tiny bit of information until the very end, which is why the cast has filmed three possible endings, Zellweger tells TODAY.

She adds, "They kept us guessing, yeah. Because you never know people with cell phones and talking, and I might slip up and tell my mom, 'Oh you know when she ends up with ...'"

The father could be either of the two men in her life, Darcy or Qwant. But everyone is stuck with just wild guesses because even the star cannot give any hint at all.

"I don't know what they're going to do."

The Oscar-winning actress shares that it may not be such a big deal as Bridget, as usual, will just take everything in stride and pick up life where she leaves it off and be perfectly alright in the end. So she means that, whoever the father may end up to be, Bridget will be Bridget. And that's why Zellweger loves to play the character.

"I love her humanity," Zellweger says. "I love that she's so humble. I love that she's self-deprecating, but she's always optimistic and always finds a way. You know, I think people relate to her perfect imperfection."

And that may also be the reason why people just love to know what's happening in Bridget's life. People can watch her and feel for her. And not just that. Viewers relate to her very well, although the actress hints to the Inquisitr that Bridget may not find the end to be a happy-ever-after. To complicate matters, Bridget herself does not know who the father to her baby is.

It's going to be a race to the end to find out what everyone else is harking on.

The romantic comedy "Bridget Jones's Baby" premieres September 15 and is Zellweger's first film after her six-year hiatus from Hollywood.
