Britney Spears was recently linked back to her former husband Kevin Federline, after it was revealed that the couple owed the California government thousands of dollars in back taxes. But according to representatives for the pop star, the tax lien is a mistake.
Spear's representatives stated in a report that the tax mix up between Spears and her former husband, Kevin Federline, should be resolved shortly. The tax lien that accused Spears of owing the government money was filed by mistake according to TMZ, who spoke with Spear's reps.
The "X-Factor" judge has not been short of money as of late however, and would likely have no problem paying the bill even if Federline was unable to come up with the funds. Spears debuted her latest music video with Will.i.am of the Black Eyed Peas on Tuesday night just before the last performance on "The X-Factor." The song is titled "Scream and Shout."

But while the singer was recently valued to be worth of $200 million, according to a Celebrity Net Worth report, her latest endeavor did not receive rave reviews.
"Please tell me how this even comes close to passing for music?!" one user prompted on a Huffington Post blog.
"Stick to making commercials and judging inane contests and leave music to people who actually know something about it. Horrible," another user added.
The back taxes owed by Spears and Federline were revealed on Tuesday. The amount owed was derived off of an income tax form that was filed in 2004 according to TMZ, who obtained copies of the legal documents. The report stated that the Government of California had "hit the former couple with a $37,712.71 lien for unpaid income tax." The taxes were filed in the same year that the couple was married.
