Brody Jenner Confronts Bruce For Being Absent During Childhood
Brody and Bruce Jenner had a heart-to-heart on the latest episode of "Keeping Up With the Kardashians." Well, they tried to, anyway. After Brody revealed his true feelings toward his father, Bruce promptly shut the conversation down.
Bruce, Brody, Brandon, Kendall and Kylie Jenner were all having dinner together when things turned heated. Brody, however, took on a great deal of responsibility in talking with his father about the family dynamics and Bruce's participation in his own life.
"The way I see Bruce with Kendall and Kylie and Brandon, I'm actually so happy for them," Brody tells the cameras. "I think Bruce is an incredible human being and I think Bruce is an incredible father – he just wasn't a great father to me."
Bruce divorced Brody's mother, Linda Thompson, in 1985. According to reports, the divorce came after Bruce was away from home multiple times.
"We have," Linda told People magazine back then, "a great relationship but not a marriage. I don't think the kids are cognizant of the separation because their dad has always been on the road a lot. Sometimes life just kind of grabs you and throws you in different directions."
"It's interesting to watch how you are with the girls," Brody told his father on the show. "Because it's like, something I'm not really used to. You weren't around since I was a kid and it's like…"
"Now's not the time to talk about it," Bruce interjected, firmly ending the conversation.
Brody grew up with his mother, who retained primary custody after the divorce.
"The children always go to Nashville with me," Linda told People, "but they never travel with their dad because his trips are so often just one-nighters."
Bruce married Kris in 1991 and became an instant stepfather to her children. The two families merged their fame and fortune to become an empire.
"Keeping Up With the Kardashians" just started airing its ninth season and shows no signs of slowing down.
The episode with Brody's confrontation airs Sunday, June 9, at 9:00 p.m. EST.
