This is an intriguing match-up as one team is predictably on top of the Eastern Conference, the other is looking for a way to turn things around after a very slow start in the campaign.

At the moment, the Cavaliers are one of the best teams in the league in terms of standings, and they lead the Central Division as they try to hold off challenges from the Chicago Bulls, Detroit Pistons and Indiana Pacers.
On the other hand, the Nets are clearly struggling despite having a capable line-up of stars as they are fourth in the Atlantic Division which is currently being ruled by the Toronto Raptors.
Despite the difference in results and records, the Nets have proven that they can hang with the best and a perfect example would be their first match-up against the Cavaliers.
In their first meeting, the Cavaliers edged out a 90-88 win at home against a game opponent.
Brooklyn even managed to get a lead during the first quarter and were still up by six at the half. Unfortunately things turned around in the second half as the Cavaliers outscored them by seven in the third quarter to take a one-point lead heading into the final minutes.
Seemingly out of gas, the Nets could only stay at par with the Cavaliers and could not regain the lead as they eventually lost the game.
Furthermore, it was a last-second effort by LeBron James that pulled the Cavs ahead – and James finished with 26 points, nine rebounds and five assists.
For the Nets, Brook Lopez had 22 points, nine rebounds and two assists.
