'Brooklyn Nine-Nine' Season 2 News: Eva Longoria and Kyra Sedgwick to Guest Star in Upcoming Season

"Brooklyn Nine-Nine" is set to premiere its second season this month, and with the new season comes new guest stars.

According to TVLine, Eva Longoria will be guest-starring in a three-episode arc as Sophia, a defense attorney who Jake Peralta (Andy Samberg) will be very attracted to when she faces off with him in court.

Meanwhile, "The Closer" star Kyra Sedgwick will guest star in two episodes of the show as Deputy Chief Madeline Wuntch. The character is reportedly a longtime rival of Captain Holt (Andre Braugher) and as a part of a precincts-wide evaluation, Wuntch will attempt to take the precinct down. Entertainment Weekly reports that this will be Sedgwick's first on-camera TV role since "The Closer" wrapped in 2012.

In other news, executive producer Mike Schur confirmed that there will be a time jump when the new season starts.

"There is a time jump," said Schur at the TCA Press Tour. "It does not pick up where we left off."

He also confirmed that Jake and Amy's romance won't be the main focus of the show.

"It's going to be one of the elements of the show that we're going to follow as the year goes on," he added.

Schur also mentioned the possibility that fan favorite guest stars like Patton Oswalt and Craig Robinson will be seen again in the upcoming season.

Dirk Blocker and Joel McKinnon Miller have been promoted to series regulars, and executive producer Dan Goor says that fans can expect to see more of them.

"Brooklyn Nine-Nine" will premiere on Sept. 28 on FOX.
