'Brooklyn Nine-Nine' Season 4 Updates, Previews, and Spoilers: Jake and Holt Bait Figgis; New Precinct Captain Revealed
The hit crime comedy show Brooklyn Nine-Nine premiered its fourth season last week, and we see Jake and Captain Holt adjusting to their new life in Florida.
Premiere Episode Recap
In an episode worthy of being called a spin-off by itself, Brooklyn Nine-Nine saw the unlikely dynamic duo of Jake Peralta (Andy Samberg) and Captain Ray Holt (Andre Braugher) in their new home in Florida. This is in connection to their pursuit of the criminal mastermind Jimmy "The Butcher" Figgis story arc that started at the middle of the third season.
The entire episode focused solely on the two characters' internal and relationship conflicts, especially with making peace with their current and possible future situation. Jake had taken on a new identity of Larry, with Holt taking on an alias of Greg. Holt is seen to be seemingly well-adjusted to their new life already, having power walking trips with the resident gossip ladies and a job at Frank's Fun Zone.
Meanwhile, Jake had made it look like he was working on an ATV store. With Holt somewhat doubtful of Jake's suspicious actions, he follows his detective who was supposedly going to work. He finds Jake going to a storage unit, where he is continuing detective work on the Figgis case. Holt confronts Jake right away, telling him to settle instead in their current life. Jake then takes the scolding to heart, getting a real job at Frank's Fun Zone as the Assistant Manager, a step higher than Holt's position.
With their roles reversed, Holt has difficulty taking orders from his former subordinate. They then get into an incident, which was recorded on video by an onlooker. They then leverage this video in order to bait Figgis into finding them.
Coral Palms Part 2
Fast forward to the next episode, the preview shows Jake and Holt share a bath tub upon devising their plan. The next episode, titled "Coral Palms Pt. 2," will see the duo venturing into the unknown and finally encountering the criminal mastermind.
Meanwhile, back at the precinct, we see the rest of the regular posse adjust to the absence of Captain Holt. We see a glimpse of Amy Santiago (Melissa Fumero), Rosa Diaz (Stephanie Beatriz), Terry Jeffords (Terry Crews), Charles Boyle (Joe Lo Truglio), and Gina Linetti (Chelsea Peretti) deal with the quirky new captain played by guest star Ken Marino.
Will they succeed with whatever plan they come up with to get the better of Figgis and finally get back to their normal lives? Will the 99th NYPD Precinct be able to hold down the fort while their regular captain is out of the picture? Find out on the next episode of Brooklyn Nine-Nine airing on September 27.
